BOOK REVIEW - "LOST HARBOR" (A KATY RUSSELL MYSTERY BOOK 4) BY JACKIE ZACK

Why do reporters Katy Russell and Nick Hinchman keep encountering unexplained deaths (besides the fact that this is part of the Katy Russell Mystery series)? Is it a coincidence that they're on an island with no phone, no internet, no ferry to take them off the island, and people getting sick? And will Katy and Nick realize they're in love with each other before someone makes Lost Harbor Island their final destination a one way trip?

"Lost Harbor" by Jackie Zack is the fourth of the Katy Russell Mystery series. All of these are well written mysteries, keeping you guessing until the end, and "Lost Harbor" is a prime example.

By the way, you want a novel for a week-end? Each of these are around 150 pages. Should they be considered novellas? Good question, though each are full, well written stories.

However, these stories should be read in order, from "Ice Lake" to "Big Bluff" to "Shady Grove" before hopping on the "Lost Harbor" ferry. You may feel lost if you don't read them in order, as well as spoiling some of the surprises should you read the latter books before the first ones.

I have thoroughly enjoyed this series, and recommend each one.

BOOK REVIEW - "SHADY GROVE" (A KATY RUSSELL MYSTERY BOOK 3) BY JACKIE ZACK

Sure, she was the town hoarder, and sure she had anything but a pleasant disposition, but who would take the step to murder her? Should reporters Katy Russell and Nick Hinchman just accept the unanimous conclusion she just tripped over her "collections" and fatally cut herself with the paring knife she always carried?

"Shady Grove" is the excellent third novel in Jackie Zack's excellent Katy Russell Mysteries. As usual, it has two leads who you care more about in each installment, plus plenty of suspects and plot twists that keep you guessing who did it.

This is book 3. Do you need to read to read books 1 and 2 first? I would say that it's better to do so, but you can still enjoy this one out of order - you won't be lost, nor will reading a later book spoil the earlier book.

I recommend this book and this series.

One last bittersweet comment. Author Jackie Zack, who wrote this 4 part series, went home to be with the Lord a couple of days before I started reading this book. Please pray for her and her friends and family. She was an encouragement to me by weekly asking us what we're reading.

BOOK REVIEW - "BIG BLUFF" (A KATY RUSSELL BOOK 2) BY JACKIE ZACK

Is the body missing after falling off Big Bluff hidden by the killer, or did the body get up by itself and is hiding someplace? Can Katy and her co-worker Nick solve this mystery before the art festival ends and the many suspects head back home? And why does the man who killed his brother/Katy's fiance want to talk to her?

"Big Bluff" is the second of the Katy Russell mystery series by Jackie Zack, and this one is top notch. I was completely surprised when the bad guy is revealed. Great job with interesting characters, from the main character and the possible love interest to the various artists at the art festival.

I mentioned this is the second in the series. I highly recommend you read the first. There are some characters and storylines from the first that you wouldn't know anything about them without having read the first book.

I highly recommend this novel.
